Senate Election Certainty, BUT Only if You Vote on Tuesday

Opinion Senate Election Certainty, BUT Only if You Vote on TuesdayUSA – -(AmmoLand.com)- There is one clear certainty about the 2018 elections. Senator Chuck Schumer will not be the majority leader. I have looked at every Senate race this year, and I do not see any way the Democrats can get to a majority. The supposed blue wave broke before making it to shore. This is a much bigger breakthrough in national government than you might have expected. If the Democrats had acquired a majority in the Senate, they could have blocked every person President Trump nominated for federal judgeships. Now that this seems unlikely [assuming we all get out and vote next Tuesday], Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans will continue the amazing shift of the courts back toward a reliance on the American Constitution as the source of legal decision-making. This was the biggest achievement of Trump’s first two years, and now it is likely guaranteed to continue. If the Democrats acquired a Senate majority, they would launch dozens of investigations and help hobble the senior leadership of the government. They would make life endlessly frustrating for Trump appointees.Instead of developing new policies, the President’s team would be absorbed with preparing for unending, irritating-but-dangerous hearings. Their time and energy for new reforms and new policies would be severely limited.A Democratic Senate would have pursued hearings on issues they thought would keep their base excited and enthusiastic.Among the biggest losers, next Tuesday will be the would-be presidential candidates mired in the minority. The outbursts of Senators Cory “Spartacus” Booker and Kamala Harris were early indications of the frustrations of trying to run for president while being in the minority. Senators Booker, Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren are among those who will lack the majority pulpit to schedule the right hearings on the right topics to maximize favorable publicity.Depending on the scale of the Democratic defeat, Senator Schumer may face a rebellion against his own leadership. After next Tuesday, Schumer will have failed to bring his party into the majority. Furthermore, he kept his team together on big questions such as the tax cuts and approving Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, but still, with a breathtakingly small margin, Leader McConnell simply kept winning.Four Republicans deserve credit for this extraordinary outcome: President Trump, McConnell, National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Senator Cory Gardner of Colorado, and Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel.President Trump has been the foundation for everything because he assembled the red state majority. His policies, mass rallies, tweets, and media savvy have kept that majority together for two years. Trump may not have broadened his base, but he has certainly solidified and educated it. If Senator Joe Manchin loses next Tuesday, it will be a sign no personality can overcome being on the wrong team in a state President Trump carried by a 42 percent margin.Leader McConnell has once again vindicated his methodical, steady approach to governing. His memoir, The Long Game, is filled with examples of how patient and persistent he is. He helped recruit and fund candidates and in some cases, provided campaign managers. When necessary, he has talked bluntly with incumbent senators to get them to do what is needed for re-election. His consistency in working with Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley to get Kavanaugh approved for the Supreme Court may have been the final turning point in defining the Senate elections in the key states.Senator Gardner did a superb job of working with all his Republican colleagues and the Trump White House to recruit the candidates who had the potential to win. Without these strong, competitive personalities, the opportunity for a Republican victory would never have materialized in a number of states. It is easy to forget how much Republicans shot ourselves in the foot with weak — and sometimes downright weird — candidates in 2012 and 2014. Not a single unforced error was made in recruiting candidates for 2018.RNC Chair McDaniel has had the wisdom, energy, and perseverance to do an outstanding job of fundraising and then focusing that fundraising to expand and deepen the Republican ground game nationally. There are some key reasons Republicans won eight of 10 special elections for the House these past two years, and one of them is the extra votes turned out by the RNC local neighborhood outreach program. McDaniel deserves credit for the vision to grow the system – even beyond its 2016 base. She has had the energy to raise the money and the personality to keep the party focused on winning instead of bickering.Speaking of 2016, IF the size of the Republican victory next Tuesday shocks the media and the Left, some credit must go to the years of hard work by former RNC Chairman Reince Priebus and his leadership in building a big enough system to help win hard-fought states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The House is still a tough contest that could go either way. I think the GOP range is probably a low of 204 to a high of 229. None of us will know for sure until the votes start coming in. The polls are about as meaningful as they were in 2016, and the so-called experts are probably as right as they were in 2016 when they just misread reality and imposed their own models. The Senate as an institution is settled. Individual Senate races are still up in the air, but the general picture is clear. There is no circumstance where Schumer can become majority leader. At a minimum, we will have a two-vote Republican majority after Tuesday night.McConnell’s majority will certainly grow.My current conservative estimate is a GOP gain of three seats. My optimistic prediction is a gain so high I am afraid to put in writing. Leader McConnell dislikes and distrusts projections, so I will keep my much more positive number to myself. The Trump Revolution will be safe and continue to grow in the Senate – and that is an amazing outcome for 2018.Your Friend, Newt Newt GingrichP.S. Laura Kelly Would Leave Kansans Defenseless

Opinion Voting Kris Kobach For GovernorFairfax, VA – -(Ammoland.com)- The National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is warning Kansans that Laura Kelly’s extreme gun control agenda would leave honest, hard-working Kansans defenseless.“Laura Kelly supports measures that would put law-abiding Kansans at risk,” said Chris W. Cox, NRA-PVF Chairman.Laura Kelly is an “F” rated candidate whose policies would:leave law-abiding adults under the age of 21 defenseless;leave law-abiding adults on college campuses defenseless;leave law-abiding adults on some state-owned properties defenseless;strip Kansans of their constitutional due process rights.Laura Kelly is endorsed by Michael Bloomberg’s gun control lobby. She supports bans on commonly owned firearms and standard capacity magazines as well as criminalizing the private transfer of firearms.“Laura Kelly doesn’t support our right to self-defense. Defend your freedom and defeat Laura Kelly by voting Kris Kobach for governor,” concluded Cox.About: Established in 1975, the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the “lobbying” arm of the National Rifle Association of America. Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill Caught Lying to Missouri Voters on Guns ~ VIDEO

OpinionFairfax, VA – -(Ammoland.com)-  It appears Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) forgot she represents the Show-Me State. Missouri’s nickname derives from its residents’ healthy skepticism – especially for politicians and their “frothy eloquence.” Rather than take someone’s word for something, Missourians would like to be shown.Missouri voters across the political spectrum don’t like what they were shown this week. Hidden camera video from journalist James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas showing that McCaskill and her staff have misled Missourians on her support for severe gun controls and impeaching President Donald Trump. In a candid interaction with McCaskill, a Project Veritas reporter posing as a campaign staffer asked the second-term senator about her position on guns, resulting in the following exchange.McCaskill: Well if we elect enough Democrats we’ll get some gun safety stuff done. They won’t let us vote on it, we’ve got 60 votes for a number of measures that would help with gun safety, but McConnell won’t let ’em come to the floor.Project Veritas: Like [banning] bump stocks, ARs and high capacity mags?McCaskill: Universal background, all of that.Project Veritas: So you would be on board with the bump stocks and high capacity mags.McCaskill: Of Course! Of Course! The senator’s strident support for gun control when speaking with campaign staff stands in stark contrast to her public messaging. For example, McCaskill’s scant treatment of the gun issue on her website is intentionally vague and plays up her purported support for the Second Amendment. It states,As a child, Claire grew up around guns – her father loved to hunt – and she has said repeatedly that she supports the Second Amendment while also supporting common sense gun safety measures to keep our children safe.Common sense? An analysis by Barack Obama’s Department of Justice determined that so-called “universal” background checks are ineffective absent more severe restrictions. Multiple federally-funded studies could not find that the 1994 ban on commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms reduced gun violence, partly because these firearms “were rarely used in gun crimes even before the ban.” Moreover, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, author of the landmark Second Amendment decision in District of Columbia v. Heller, made clear that the Second Amendment protects commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms like the AR-15.When asked about the senator’s deceptive approach, McCaskill campaign staffers explained that such subterfuge is necessary for their candidate to get elected. The undercover reporter asked McCaskill Campaign Deputy Regional Field Director Rob Mills why the candidate wasn’t more forthright about her anti-gun positions. Mills responded that it was because “she has a bunch of Republican voters.” Regarding McCaskill’s relationship with Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun front group Everytown for Gun Safety, Mills said,But she doesn’t openly go out and support groups like ‘Mom’s Demand Action’ or just like other groups that are related to that. Because that could hurt, her ability to get elected. Because people like see that and they’re like well I don’t want to support her even though they stand for the same policies.So. She’s worked out stuff with Mom’s Demand Action to make sure that she can support their goals without supporting the organization openly. And you know, Mom’s Demand Action does the exact same thing. Like a lot of our volunteers are actually from there [Mom’s Demand Action]. She’s really good about strategy and making sure she has a goal and can get there. At other points in the video McCaskill staffers contend that their candidate would be supportive of a handgun ban and using impeachment to remove President Trump from office. Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill Caught Lying to Missouri Voters on Guns ~ VIDEOIt’s no surprise that the second-term senator would want to hide her views from voters, as they are wildly out of step with Missouri. As a U.S. a senator (since 2007), McCaskill has repeatedly sought to limit the Right-to-Carry, voting against Right-to-Carry reciprocity legislation and a law that allows carry permit holders to exercise their right to self-defense in National Parks. With recognition that the Second Amendment protects an individual righto keep and bear arms in the balance, McCaskill voted to confirm Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan and voted against Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. In 2013, the Missouri senator sided with Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) on her legislation to ban commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms and with Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) on his legislation to ban magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds. As McCaskill was busy advancing gun restrictions, the Missouri legislature was working to better respect gun rights. In 2003, Missouri became the 36th state to enact Right-to-Carry legislation when the legislature overrode Governor Bob Holden’s veto. During a failed gubernatorial campaign in 2004, McCaskill made clear that she would have vetoed the legislation as well. In 2007, the state repealed its onerous and redundant law that required a permit to purchase a handgun. In 2014, Missouri protected the rights of young adults by lowering the minimum age for acquiring a Right-to-Carry permit from 21 to 19. That same year, Missouri voters adopted an amendment to the state constitution that strengthened the document’s right to keep and bear arms provision. In 2016, the Missouri legislature enacted legislation recognizing the Right-to-Carry without a permit. As for presidential politics, President Trump won Missouri’s electoral votes in a landslide in 2016 – besting McCaskill-endorsed Hillary Clinton with 56.4 percent of the vote to 37.9.McCaskill’s effort to hide her anti-gun positions fits into a broader gun control misinformation campaign, whereby candidates and activists are encouraged to repeat moderate-sounding talking points while harboring plans for severe gun control. In June, Democratic candidate for New York’s 21st congressional district Tedra Cobb was caught on camera telling supporters that she had been coached by an Everytown representative to hide the fact that she is in favor of a ban on commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms. More recently, March for Our Lives Activist Emma Gonzalez told Vanity Fair, “We try our very darndest to get out the fact that we don’t want to take away guns and that we are pro second amendment.” Months earlier a more candid Gonzalez admitted her support for gun confiscation, calling for “[r]emoving the assault and semi-automatic weapons from our Civilian society…”(4/4) Removing the assault and semi-automatic weapons from our Civilian society, instituting thorough background checks and mandatory waiting periods (and raising the buying age and banning the production of high-capacity magazines) are the ways to stop shootings in America.— Emma González (@Emma4Change) April 22, 2018All U.S. voters would be well-served by adopting Missouri’s “Show-Me” ethos when it comes to politicians’ purported support for the Second Amendment. As seen with McCaskill, anti-gun politicians will use any underhanded tactic to meet their ends.About: Established in 1975, the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the “lobbying” arm of the National Rifle Association of America. State AG Races Matter To Gun Owners, the Abuser & Anti Gunner Keith Ellison Example

Opinion Main Stream Media Making Excuses for girl friend abuser Keith Ellison.Minnesota – -(AmmoLand.com)- Recently state attorneys general have been in the news. When Defense Distributed won a settlement from the State Department that would have allowed the publication of certain files, a number of state attorneys general filed suit to block that publication. They got their injunction – never mind that a settlement had already been reached allowing for it.One high-profile AG race is in Minnesota. The big reason for this high profile is because Representative Keith Ellison, the Deputy Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, is one of the candidates, and he’s been in the news for alegedly abusing his girl friend. [but Dems do not believe her…]What you may not know is that Ellison has a horrific record on the Second Amendment. He has been hostile down the line. According to Project Vote Smart, there are a host of lowlights: He opposed passage of concealed carry reciprocity. He’s supported the walkouts demanding, among other things, semi-auto bans and “universal background checks.” But Ellison didn’t stop there, a line which even Dianne Feinstein did not cross – at least out in public. Feinstein at least purports to support hunters and sportsmen. Ellison didn’t. He opposed the SHARE Act in 2016, which was intended to promote shooting sports, including hunting. His hostility towards law-abiding gun owners is such that when it came to prohibiting the importation of legally-taken trophies, he voted yes. Ellison also voted against an amendment to further protect law-abiding citizens who were traveling with their unloaded firearms by allowing them to collect attorney’s fees in certain cases. He was a no vote on the final passage of that bill, which was not acted on by the Senate. Still, this is notable, and something Second Amendment supporters should remember. His hostility is not as notorious as that of Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein, but it is as real as that of Jerrold Nadler. Democratic National Committee Deputy Chair, Keith Ellison wearing his Open Borders T ShirtLook, debates over concealed carry, background checks, handguns, and AR-15s are one thing. The misuse of some firearms has tragic consequences, and it is completely understandable that people want to prevent tragedies, even when their proposals are completely misguided. But opposing legislation for hunters, sportsmen, and to even fail to address situations where travelers trying to do the right thing get prosecuted in states that don’t respect Second Amendment rights is beyond the pale.Ellison’s votes didn’t catch much attention. He didn’t even speak in the debate on the SHARE Act. But those votes speak volumes all by themselves. It’s beyond a hostility towards our right to protect ourselves and our families – it’s a hostility towards owning any firearm for any reason whatsoever. This will translate to many actions Ellison could take as attorney general.Thankfully, there is an alternative that Second Amendment supporters can vote for in the election. Republican Doug Wardlow is also running for Attorney General of Minnesota. Wardlow’s campaign site doesn’t say much on Second Amendment issues. While the National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund has not endorsed him, in several election alerts for other offices, he is listed as a candidate worth supporting.Wardlow would certainly put a big speed bump in Ellison’s career. More importantly, he could make the Second Amendment rights of Minnesotans – and all Americans – a lot more secure.  Harold HutchisonAbout Harold HutchisonWriter Harold Hutchison has more than a dozen years of experience covering military affairs, international events, U.S. politics, and Second Amendment issues. Oregon County Referenda to Protect Second Amendment Rights

Oregon County Referenda to Protect Second Amendment RightsArizona -(Ammoland.com)- -Several Oregon counties have referenda on the ballot to re-enforce protections for Second Amendment rights. The movement to re-enforce the Second Amendment protections started in 2013, in Wallowa County. Similar referenda have passed in four counties, Coos, Curry, Wallowa, and Wheeler.Wheeler and Coos county passed their ordinances in 2015, Curry county passed a similar ordinance in 2016.In 2018 ten counties have Second Amendment protection referenda on the ballot. These are: Baker County (measure 1-84), Columbia County (measure 5-270), Douglas county (measure 10-165), Jackson county (measure 15-181), Klamath County (measure 18-110), Lake County (measure 1-84), Lincoln County (measure 21-189), Linn County (measure 11-174), Umatilla County (measure 20-128), and Union County (measure 31-96).The passed and proposed referenda may be read at the cooscountywatcher.com.The measures are similar. They assert the primacy of the U.S. and Oregon constitutional protections of the right to keep and bear arms and the Ninth, Tenth, and Fourteenth amendments to the U.S. Constitution. There are several variations. The Oregon Constitutional protection is in Article 1, Section 27 of the Oregon Constitution.  Section 27. Right to bear arms; military subordinate to civil power. The people shall have the right to bear arms for the defence [sic] of themselves, and the State, but the Military shall be kept in strict subordination to the civil power[.]The proposed and passed referenda specify protections to limit the power of the government in several ways, and to prevent the County governments from cooperating with state or federal authorities in violation of the referenda, or spending funds to enforce policies that violate the referenda. Here is a summary of measure 31-96 from Union County:Approval of this measure would mandate that in Union County, the Oregon and United States Constitutional definitions of firearms be interpreted as including ammunition and firearms accessories.Approval of this measure would make unconstitutional in Union County any law or regulation that restricts a person from possessing firearms, ammunition, and firearms accessories.Approval of this measure would require the Union County Sheriff to review federal, state, and local laws affecting firearms, firearms accessories, and/or ammunition and determine whether they violate the United States and Oregon Constitutions as defined by this measure.Approval of this measure would prohibit Union County Government from enforcing any law that restricts the right of people to possess firearms, firearms accessories, and/or ammunition. And approval of this measure would subject people or corporations who violate this measure to a fine of up to $2,000 for an individual and $4,000 for a corporation. Vote November 2018Counties are created by, and are creatures of state governments. These referenda could be overridden by the state legislature. They serve notice, however, of the willingness of the counties to fight such legislation in the courts. They serve as a way for rural voters to give legislators notice of their willingness to protect Second Amendment rights. The desire to restrict Second Amendment rights is tepid, fueled by media spin. Support for the Second Amendment is deep seated in culture, tradition, and life experience. The referenda may give state legislatures pause in passing restrictive legislation. The Oregon pre-emption law currently prevents local governments from passing laws that are more restrictive than state law, not referenda protecting Second Amendment rights.Similar activism is ongoing in Illinois counties.About Dean Weingarten:Dean Weingarten has been a peace officer, a military officer, was on the University of Wisconsin Pistol Team for four years, and was first certified to teach firearms safety in 1973. He taught the Arizona concealed carry course for fifteen years until the goal of constitutional carry was attained. He has degrees in meteorology and mining engineering, and recently retired from the Department of Defense after a 30 year career in Army Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation. The post Oregon County Referenda to Protect Second Amendment Rights appeared first on AmmoLand.com.

Will You Vote it Away, Time To Take a Stand For Individualism & America

Opinion Will You Vote it Away, Time To Take a Stand For Individualism & AmericaFt Collins, CO –-(Ammoland.com)- Constitutional Criminals! From a friend and student:“I am an American Citizen, by choice!A decade ago, I legally immigrated here from Zambia. My ancestors were from the state of Gujarat, India, and they migrated to Zambia in the 1890s.My family is ascended from ancient Rajput Warriors.Today, with fierce pride, I speak English and call myself an UNHYPHENATED AMERICAN!Since coming here, I have made it a point to visit historic sites from our Revolutionary War, Civil War, et al.I am always impressed by with this Country’s repeated self-leveling, always in favor of liberty.Your recent Quip starkly demonstrates that HRC [hillary rodham clinton] and her party are nothing more than an organized criminal mob, contemptibly subverting the American Way of Life.Your Che Guevara quotation at the beginning of the Quip is extremely insightful, since I lived in Zambia when Che and the Cubans were wielding their murderous influence there, as well as in Angola, Congo, Namibia.I cannot believe I am a proud American, and I am seeing sincere, unapologetic Marxists (masquerading as “Democrats”) running for political office, with a straight face.Believe me, I know, first-hand, what Marxists/Communists sound like, and what they do.”Comment:1) Isn’t it strange that in America, our flag and our culture “offend” so many, but our benefits don’t?2) How can our federal government demand that US citizens pay back student loans, when illegal aliens are receiving a “free” education, at the expense of the beleaguered few of us who pay taxes and actually work for a living?3) Only in America are legal citizens labeled “racists” and Nazis,” but illegal aliens are called “Dreamers.”4) How is it that in America, one can proudly wave the flag of another country, but consider it “punishment” to be sent back there?5) Language revision:“Need” now means coveting other people’s money, but being unwilling to work for your own.“Greed” means wanting to keep at least some of your own.“Compassion” is when leftist politicians arrange for an involuntary transfer, in exchange for votes“Opportunity,” missed by most, because it is dressed in overalls, and looks like work“Sacrifice” never applies to leftist politicians, who are demanding it of everyone else“Extinction is the rule.
