State Judge Hears Case Against The Virginia Shutdown Of Indoor Ranges

State Judge Hears Case Against The Virginia Shutdown Of Indoor Ranges
LYNCHBURG, VA –-(Ammoland.com)- Virginia Governor Ralph Northam tried to circumvent the state court system by attempting to move a case brought by SafeSide Tactical shooting range of Lynchburg, the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL), and Gun Owners of America (GOA) against the Commonwealth’s shutdown of indoor shooting ranges due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) to the federal court level.
SafeSide Tactical has been hit hard by the Governor’s forced shutdown. The state-mandated closure forced the Lynchburg based shooting range to lay off more than half of its staff. Other indoor shooting ranges from across the state faced similar issues stay afloat during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The two organizations accused Northam of breaking a state law (Virginia Emergency Services and Disaster Law) that prevents the Governor from using an emergency to violate the Second Amendment or the state constitution. In the suit, the gun-rights group argued that the shutdown order for ranges violated Article I Section 13 of the Virginia Constitution. The Virginia Solicitor General argued that the lawsuit was a Second Amendment case in disguise. It reasoned since the language in the Second Amendment of the Federal Constitution is similar to the verbiage of Article I Section 13 of the Virginia Constitution that the federal courts should have jurisdiction over the case.
Most legal experts agreed that the Governor’s ploy to move the case out of state court was a longshot to succeed. VCDL President Philip Van Cleave said that Governor Northam was “terrified” of the Virginia Court system. Northam hoped that the historically anti-gun federal court system would hear the case instead of a court in Lynchburg, VA, because it would give the state a better shot of victory.
The court allowed both sides of the issue to submit briefs for and against the federal court hearing the case. Many legal experts believe that if the federal court chose to hear the case, it would be a massive shift in power from the states to the federal government. It would mean the federal government would have jurisdiction over state constitutions if it included similar language to the federal constitution.
The federal court rejected Virginia’s arguments and remanded the case back for the state court to hear and rule on the merits of the proposed injunction. Gun-rights advocates celebrated the court’s decision.
“This Court has no jurisdiction over this action because it presents quintessential questions of state law traditionally adjudicated by state courts,” the ruling read.
Lynchburg Circuit Court Judge F. Patrick Yeatts scheduled a hearing on the GOA, VCDL proposed injunction for 9 AM today. Because of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the court heard the case over a video conference. Both sides stated their case to the judge. The state argued that the ranges were non-essential entertainment venues, and the Governor has the power to shut down non-essential businesses to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Attorneys for the gun-rights group argued that the Virginia State Constitution protected ranges under the right to bear arms.
Judge Yeatts said he would issue his ruling by noon on Monday.

ATF Targets Small Gun Shops with Leading Phone Call Questionnaire

Editor’s Update: Readers please see the related after-publication update from NSSF at the end of this article.
ATF Targets Small Gun Shops with Leading Phone Call Questionnaire, iStock-Ilya-Burdun
U.S.A. –-(Ammoland.com)- The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF) has started a phone outreach program to Federal Firearms License holders (FFLs) because of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
In an email obtained by AmmoLand News, ATF Field Management Staff Deputy Chief Kyle Lallenstack ask Industry Operations Investigators (IOIs) to start calling FFLs and engage in “outreach” to meet inspection targets. The email references the need for social distancing protocols as well as dealing with state-mandated business closures and stay at home orders. Lallenstack states that the ATF foresees these restrictions on personal contact lasting weeks, if not months.
The email reads: “We recognize that in-person contact during inspections and outreach initiatives will likely be severely constrained for weeks if not months, and that limited in-person contacts IOIs must engage in as the crisis continues (e.g., responding to FFL thefts) must employ maximum safety protocols to limit the potential exposure of industry, the public, and the IOIs.”
The target of these phone calls will be firearms stores that the ATF has not inspected in years. The IOIs will need to inform the FFL holders that the phone conversation is strictly voluntary. Gun rights advocates who have seen the emails worry that FFL holders that refuse to speak over the phone to the ATF IOI will be moved to the top of the inspection list once inspections resume. There is also no way for the FFL holder to verify the person they are talking to is an actual ATF employee and not someone trying to get information on the firearms stored at the business.
The ATF developed a ATF Telephone Outreach Initiative Script and survey to use on the phone calls. The guide gives the IOI a script to initiate the call with the FFL. The script reads:
“Your participation in this call is voluntary, and this is NOT an inspection. Given the current pandemic, we are attempting to limit your and our exposure to COVID 19 by limiting our in-person, face-to-face interaction to the extent possible while still accomplishing our mission of protecting the public and reducing violent crime. As you may be aware, ATF frequently conducts FFL seminars to informally communicate with licensees in which we engage in discussions about current issues in the industry, relevant regulations, and suggestions of best practices. These seminars help ensure we all work together to enhance the safety of our communities. Since we cannot do that type of outreach under existing circumstances, we are calling you today to reassure you that ATF is accessible and available to answer your questions throughout this challenging time. We would like to spend a few minutes providing you our contact information and an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. We’d also like to ask a few questions about your current operations to help us assess how to best support you and apply ATF resources towards public safety in these challenging times.”
The guide asks the IOI to verify all information about the business, including the business name, address, email, and responsible person. The inspector will then ask the FFL to give them a summary of the company. The ATF is trying to figure out if the FFL is a traditional gun store, an internet vendor, or sells firearms at gun shows.
ATF Telephone Outreach Initiative Script 2020

The IOI will then ask the FFL holder to explain to them how they are using their license. They will go further and ask the business owner if they have any questions on the 4473 form or their acquisition and deposition records. The IOI will upload all the information they collect into the ATF’s system.
Gun rights advocates worry that not only can the questions the IOI ask the licensees about the FFL’s operations be used against them in the future, but the questions the FFL holder asks the IOI can be used by the ATF to target them during future inspections. If an FFL has a question on how to log a specific firearm into their A&D book, then that can lead the IOI to the conclusion that there might be errors in the logbook. Nowhere in the document does it tell the IOI to inform the FFL holder that they will log their responses into the ATF system
Gun right groups worry that the ATF could be on a “fishing” expedition. Calls to the ATF for comment were not returned by the time of publication.

Editor’s Note: after the initial publication of this article we received this related update from the National Shooting Sports Foundation.
NSSF ATF Reaching Out to Firearm Retailers
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives will be reaching out to firearm retailers by phone starting next week to ensure licensed dealers have all necessary information during the pandemic.
Retailers will be reminded their participation is voluntary and the calls are not a compliance inspection or a prelude to one.
The calls are to reassure firearm retailers the ATF is available to assist with regulatory compliance, including answering new or unique questions that may arise during these unusual circumstances.
Firearm retailers will be provided ATF contact information and website resources for ready assistance. NSSF® thanks the ATF for the outreach and the continued positive relationship with the industry.
Together, the ATF and NSSF helps prevent crime and wrongful possession of firearms through partnership programs including Don’t Lie for the Other Guy, Operation Secure Store®, and matching reward programs.

FBI Request An Indefinite Stay In GOA FOIA Case Due To COVID-19

Opinion
FBI Request An Indefinite Stay In GOA FOIA Case Due To COVID-19
Washington, DC –-(Ammoland.com)- The FBI is asking a judge to grant an indefinite stay to the proceedings in a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) case brought by Gun Owners of America because of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
On October 4, 2019, Gun Owners of America filed an FOIA request for information related to the FBI’s usage of its voluntary prohibited person submission form within the National Instant Check Systems (NICS).
The form allows a person to add themselves to the prohibited person’s list without meeting the requirements. GOA is worried that an anti-gun doctor or family member can coerce a gun owner to add themselves to the list. Once on the list, the person can never own a firearm again.
Earlier this year, the request became more relevant with states like Virginia passing a law that lets citizens add themselves to a state list that is then reported to the FBI and then added to NICS. GOA says it needs the information for any future legal challenge. Gun rights advocates reason that someone using the form as akin to a person designating themselves a felon and demanding that the government put them into prison.
The FBI acknowledged the receipt of the gun rights group’s FOIA request, but that is where the federal government’s response stopped. The FBI’s unwillingness to respond caused GOA to sue to get the requested information. The judge in the case gave the FBI until yesterday to provide the court with a status report.
Lawyers for the FBI requested a stay in the case for an unlimited amount of time. The FBI states that the coronavirus forced the FBI Record/Information Dissemination Section (RIDS) to shut down. In the status update, the FBI says that because of pandemic employees can not report to work. It also states that employees of the FBI’s RIDS cannot work from home to process FOIA requests.
FBI Request An Indefinite Stay In GOA FOIA Case Due To COVID-19

Other government agencies, such as the Department of Justice, are still processing FOIA requests. The FBI can’t handle the request because they house RIDS in a SECRET-level enclave. That means that unclassified documents are housed in the same system as classified documents. This design means that any materials on the network can only be viewed in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) until the department exports the documents.
GOA didn’t take a position on the motion to stay, but GOA attorney Robert Olsen did ask the stay be for no more than 30 days. Without a time limit, it would be up to the FBI and the FBI alone to when the courts would hear the case. Theoretically, the FBI could shelve the request forever. Olsen also pointed out that other agencies are still processing FOIA requests.
GOA responded: “Plaintiff takes no position on the government’s motion. However, Plaintiff wishes to add its understanding of the FBI’s curious procedure in FOIA cases, wherein the FBI takes unclassified documents, places them into a classified system, and then claims its employees cannot access that secure system. In other words, the system that the bureau created, and not the pandemic, is directly to blame for the FBI’s alleged inability to process Plaintiff’s FOIA request. The effect is a complete shutdown of the FBI’s FOIA processing, even while other agencies (such as DOJ) continue work on similar FOIA requests. COVID-19 should not be a magic talisman for the FBI to waive in order to avoid its duties. Plaintiff would request that any stay the court might enter be for a set period of time not to exceed 30 days, rather than an open-ended invitation to the bureau to indefinitely delay the processing of Plaintiff’s FOIA request.”
The FBI response is that when RIDS reopens that the employees will need an undefined time period to “re-adjust, negotiate and harmonize deadlines in its FOIA matters.” The Attorneys do not want to respond in 30 days because it would cause them extra work in their ever-expanding case log. The FBI also highlights that their lawyers might have “technical issues” while telecommuting that might back them up to a point where it would be hard for them to respond in 30 days.
The FBI’s attorney did say they would provide an update to when the stay could be lifted two weeks after RIDS employees return to work. There is no firm return date for the FBI’s RIDS.

Bellingham WA to Give Mayor Power to Ban Sale And Carrying of Guns

Bellingham WA to Give Mayor Power to Ban The Sale And Carrying of Guns
Bellingham, Wash –-(Ammoland.com)- With the rise of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) cases across the country many cities, states, and even the federal government has been passing measures to help their citizens in their time of need. Even bitter political enemies have put aside their vast differences to do what is right for the country. Democratic Socialist Rep Ilhan Omar even praised Trump for his “incredible and the right response” to the virus outbreak.
Where some people have put aside their political differences for the good of the country, others have used the crisis of our time to push their anti-gun agenda under the smokescreen of fighting the virus. One of the hardest-hit states by the virus is Washington. Seattle is the West Coast ground zero of the COVID-19 outbreak.
An hour and a half north of Seattle is the city of Bellingham there is a proposed “emergency” ordinance to deal with the novel coronavirus. The proposal will give Democrat Mayor Kelli Linville the unprecedented authority to restrict city resident’s right to bear arms.
The proposal would allow the mayor to issue an order “requiring the discontinuance of the sale, distribution, or giving away of firearms and/or ammunition for firearms in any or all parts of the city.”
The ordinance will give the mayor the power to order gun stores to immediately shut down until she deems the crisis over. She will also be able to order stores that are not primarily a gun store to remove firearms and ammunition from their shelves. The decision of which stores that law enforcement would shut down would be the mayor’s call.
Since the once in a lifetime pandemic hit the shores of the country, gun and ammunition sales have exploded in every corner of the US. A large portion of these sales is to first-time gun owners. It appears that people are now waking up to need to take responsibility for their own safety. A lot of these new gun owners used to be in the anti-gun crowd.
The ordinance gives the mayor the authority to directly violate the Constitutional rights of the citizens of the city. She will also be able to ban the carrying of firearms within the city limits. Of course, police officers will be exempt from the ordinance.
The ordinance deems the restrictions as “necessary to protect public health and safety.”
Mayor Linville isn’t the first government official to try to use the novel coronavirus as an excuse to remove people’s right to bear arms. Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen of Champaign, Illinois has granted herself the power to ban guns.
Mayor Feinen says she always had the power to ban firearms and other things like alcohol in emergencies. She stated the ordinance is just enumerating her right to violate other people’s rights. She said it is to “protect the welfare and safety of our community if needed.”
New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell also jumped on the anti-gun bandwagon. She used the COVID-19 outbreak to issue an executive order to grant herself the power to ban the sale of guns.
The Mayors in question say these ordinances are not about banning firearms. That raises the question if they are not about banning guns and the sale of firearms, then why include those powers in the ordinances?

VA Dems Seek to Ban the Manufacturing or Repair of Certain Semi-Automatic Rifles

VA Dems Seek to Ban the Manufacturing or Repair of Certain Semi-Automatic Rifles
Richmond, VA –-(Ammoland.com)- The “Assault Firearms” bill (HB 961) in Virginia passed the Public Safety Committee on Friday.
On Monday, the legislature read the bill for the first time in the full House of Delegates. The full House of Delegates will vote on the bill before the annual crossover day. Crossover day is where the Senate sends all passed measures to the House and vis versa.
The bill will ban magazines that hold more than 12-rounds, Shotguns that hold more than seven shells, semi-automatic rifles with certain cosmetic features, suppressors, and trigger actuators. There are other things in the bill that gun owners are overlooking.
The bill reads:
“Assault firearm” includes any part or combination of parts designed or intended to convert, modify, or otherwise alter a firearm into an assault firearm, or any combination of parts that may be readily assembled into an assault firearm. “Assault firearm” does not include (i) a firearm that has been rendered permanently inoperable, (ii) an antique firearm as defined in § 18.2-308.2:2, or (iii) a curio or relic as defined in § 18.2-308.2:2.
This passage could potentially ban parts used to repair broken rifles. Banning the transfer of these rifles to anyone other than the government would mean once the rifle breaks, it is useless. If the owner repairs their gun or sells it, they are committing a felony.
Gun rights groups from around the country expressed concern about the passage of HB 961 out of the committee. One of these groups is Gun Owners of America that has been fighting hard alongside VCDL in the Commonwealth to defeat the attack on gun rights. Senior Vice President, Erich Pratt, is dismayed the bill has gotten as far as it has.
“The radical Democrats in Richmond are poking the proverbial bear. Gun owners have a long memory,” Pratt told AmmoLand. “And they are motivated more so than ever before to get involved politically. Over 98% of gun owners polled say they would NOT reelect a Delegate or Senator who votes for a ban on commonly owned firearms, such as what passed out of a House committee today. Gun owners will definitely “remember in November.”
Democrats hid another passage in the bill. It reads:
B. It is unlawful for any person to import, sell, transfer, manufacture, or purchase an assault firearm, provided that a person may transfer an assault firearm to another person if:
1. The transfer is a bona fide gift made by or to a member of a transferor’s immediate family as defined in § 6.2-1300;
2. The transfer occurs by operation of law;
3. The person receiving the assault firearm is an executor or administrator of an estate or is a trustee of a trust created by a will, and the assault firearm to be transferred is property of such estate or trust;
4. The transferor is an executor or administrator of an estate or is a trustee of a trust created by a will, and the assault firearm to be transferred is the property of such estate or trust;
5. The transfer is temporary and is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm;
6. The transfer is temporary and occurs within the continuous presence of the owner of the firearm;
7. The sale or transfer of an assault firearm is to an authorized representative of the Commonwealth or any subdivision thereof as part of an authorized voluntary gun buy-back or give-back program;
8. The transfer is of an antique firearm as defined in § 18.2-308.2:2; or
9. The transfer occurs at a shooting range, shooting gallery, or other area designated for the purpose of target shooting, for use during target practice, a firearms safety or training course or class, a shooting competition, or any similar lawful activity.
C. A violation of this section is punishable as a Class 6 felony.
D. The provisions of this section shall not apply to (i) any government officer, agent, or employee, or member of the Armed Forces of the United States, to the extent that such person is otherwise authorized to acquire an assault firearm and does so while acting within the scope of his duties; (ii) the manufacture of an assault firearm by a firearms manufacturer for the purpose of sale to any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States or to a law-enforcement agency in the Commonwealth for use by that agency or its employees, provided that the manufacturer is properly licensed under federal, state, and local laws; (iii) the sale or transfer of an assault firearm by a licensed dealer to any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States or to a law-enforcement agency in the Commonwealth for use by that agency or its employees; (iv) the purchase by any person of his service handgun pursuant to § 59.1-148.3.
This hidden provision would make it illegal for the manufacturing of “assault firearms” in Virginia unless the intent is to sell it to the military or the police. Several manufacturers in Virginia would be put out of business or forced to move out of Virginia. The people employed by these companies would lose their jobs and cause economic hardships on the very people Democrats claim they care about the most, the working class.
In fact, they showed how much they cared about the public by only giving them six minutes to express their opposition to HB 961. After the committee voted the public was kicked out of the room by Capitol police under threat of arrest on orders from the Democrats. Talking to long time observers none could recall that happening before.
The bill is far from passing. HB 961 will have to pass out of the House of Delegates before being sent to the Senate. There is already one Democrat on record stating he will not vote for the bill. If another Democrat Senator breaks with their party line over the bill, then the law will fail.
AmmoLand encourages all gun owners across the Commonwealth to contact their representatives and encourage them to vote no on HB 961.  Bloomberg will not stop at Virginia, but we have a shot of handing him a defeat in his war against guns.

With tons of accessories, you can use the holster in many different ways to carry your pistol.Alien Gear accomplishes this feat by making the shell of the holster removable from whatever accessory that the wearer is using to carry their gun. I received the ShapeShift starter kit a while back to review, and I have also reviewed the ShapeShift drop leg system. There are tons of ways that a person can wear a holster with the system.Alien Gear ShapeShift Backpack Carry Expansion Pack Attached with the Alien Gear ShapeShift Backpack Carry Expansion Pack.The first accessory that Alien Gear sent me was their ShapeShift Backpack Carry Expansion Pack.To be upfront, I am not a big fan of off the body carrying of a firearm, but I also get why some people are for carrying a gun off their body. There is no one correct way to carry a gun and the user needs to find the way that works for them.Off body carry is very popular with hikers. That extra weight of a gun feels lighter when it is attached to a backpack rather than to the hikers waist, and when hiking for miles into the woods over rough terrain, it is just more comfortable at the end of the day. If a person isn’t comfortable when carrying a gun then they will be less likely to carry one at all.Also, hunters use off body carry so that their pistol will not get their way when sitting in a blind or for quick access in bear country. It is also more comfortable for the hunters just like it is for the hikers. These are the gun owners that Alien Gear is targeting with their ShapeShift Backpack Holster.The way that a user attaches the ShapeShift Backpack Holster to their bag is by using a plate that has a lever on the back and a clamp on the front. What this lever does is tighten the plate down to the strap of the user’s backpack.Alien Gear also included two lock pins on the plate of the ShapeShift Backpack Carry. This added security gave me extra confidence in the fact that the holster wouldn’t come loose causing me to drop my gun.When I put the ShapeShift Backpack Holster on my bag, there was no movement at all. It held stable to my bag. The shell connects to the plate via the Alien Gear ShapeShift button, which is their take on the quick release.One of the most significant advantages on the included quick release button is that it allows the user to transfer the shell from one Alien Gear product to another product easily. This is also a huge advantage of modular holster systems like the Alien Gear ShapeShift holster.If you have the Alien Gear ShapeShift car mount, then you could easily move the gun in the shell from your backpack in the car mount. This movability is one of the biggest strength of a modular holster system and the reason why modular systems are becoming popular in the firearms world.The nylon straps of the ShapeShift Backpack Holster are thick straps and high quality. The strap of the backpack holster wraps around the strap of the user’s backpack allowing the user to secure the holster to the bag. The polymer material of the ShapeShift Backpack Holster mount is sturdy and made using an injection molding method. It seems to be able to take quite a beating, which is perfect for anyone that spends time hiking through rough terrain.The one thing I don’t like about the ShapeShift Backpack Holster is the optional thumb retention button. In the past with the Alien Gear ShapeShift drop leg holster I had issues dropping the magazine of my Glock when trying to use the retention button.I am not sure if the problem with the ShapeShift holster’s thumb retention button exists with other guns besides Glock. Other than that, Alien Gear did a great job the ShapeShift Backpack Holster. It is well built and works for its purpose.Alien Gear sells the full ShapeShift Backpack Holster kit for $49.88. If the user already owns a ShapeShift holster then they could just by the expansion kit for $23.88ShapeShift Ankle Carry Expansion PackThe second item Alien Gear sent me was the ShapeShift Ankle Carry Expansion Pack. This kit wasn’t a complete holster. To use this, the wearer must purchase a ShapeShift shell for their gun or buy the whole package.The expansion pack runs $37.88. If the user wants the whole kit with a shell, it will run them $61.88. It is a little on the pricey, but is one of the best ankle holster builds that I have seen.Since a Glock 19 is a little too big to ankle, I used my Glock 43. The thing I was most worried about was that the gun and holster would be too big to ankle carry. For full disclosure, this is only the third ankle holster I have owned.Alien Gear made the two ankle wraps of the holster out of CoolVent neoprene. The other ankle holsters I have tested were made out of leather or cloth. The neoprene was a far superior choice to the other materials I have tested in the past.The leather ankle holster I have used had a break-in period, which was a bummer because it was not ready out of the box. I had to use a leather softener on the ankle strap to get it to fit my ankle, but with the neoprene it was ready out of the box. The zero break-in time is a massive advantage that the neoprene have over leather. Cloth also didn’t have a break in time, but it wasn’t as comfortable as the neoprene. Also, the cloth left my ankle sweaty and irritated. I didn’t have the same issue with the neoprene that Alien Gear used in the ShapeShift Ankle Holster. It was a more breathable material.I was worried that the ShapeShift Ankle Holster would slide down on my calf since the holster didn’t come with any type of calf strap to help hold it up. To my surprise, it didn’t move around. The upper strap has a polymer spine that eliminates the need to any calf strap, and it actually works.This holster was incredibly comfortable. I can see using the ShapeShift Ankle Holster for a backup gun. Alien Gear did a great job with the level of comfort of the holster.ShapeShift Hook & Loop Holster Alien Gear ShapeShift Hook & Loop Expansion PackThe final item I received from Alien Gear was the ShapeShift Hook & Loop Holster. This item is the item that I was most intriguing to me because it had an immediate use.The ShapeShift Hook & Loop Holster is a two-part system. The first part is a landing pad that sticks to almost any surface using an adhesive backing. Alien Gear covered the front of the pad with VELCRO.The second part is a pad that the ShapeShift shell attaches to by the user. Alien Gear also covered the back of the pad with VELCRO. This design allows the user to transfer the holster to any other landing pad. The system comes with three (3) landing pads.The reason why I was so interested in this item is that I wanted to attach a holster to the bottom of my desk and put a holster in my car. What was stopping me was that I didn’t want to drill holes in my desk or my car. I was afraid it would hurt the resell value of my stuff.The landing pads that Alien Gear included in the package really worked well. I attach one to the wooden bottom of the desk, and it really held on my desk. The user will have to wait 24 hours before attaching the holster to the landing pad to give the adhesive time to cure. I removed one of the landing pads after I installed it, and it didn’t leave a mark on my desk.I attached the remaining landing pad in my car. It was attached to plastic and held up well. I pulled the holster from the landing pad on both my desk and car about 50 times each to see if the landing pad would become loose. It did not. Alien Gear claims that the holster has been tested by being removed from the landing pad up to 2000 times without becoming loose.I was expecting that the Alien Gear landing pad would become loose, but it stayed solidly connected to the bottom of my desk and the side of my car. It met my needs for a desk and a car holster to a tee.The price for the ShapeShift Hook & Loop Holster is $45.88. Alien gear does sell extra land pads for $3.88. If you already own the Alien Gear ShapeShift holster kit, then you could buy the Hook & Loop expansion kit for $29.88.I liked the Backpack Holster. I will not be using it on a daily basis, but I will probably use it while hiking and camping. It does indeed hold steady and takes the weight off my waistline.The ankle holster is nice, but I don’t really like ankle carrying. If I need my gun I want it as fast as possible. Pulling it from my ankle seems like it would take too long. For a backup firearm it would be fine, but not for a primary carry piece in my opinion.Out of all three items, the ShapeShift Hook & Loop Holster is the one I liked the most. It helped me install a holster under my desk and in my car without permanently altering my stuff. The only thing that stopped me from mounting a holster in my car before getting this item was the prospect of having to drill holes in my car, and thanks to Alien Gear I didn’t have to drill into my dash.Readers can find more about Alien Gear at www.aliengearholsters.com.About John CrumpJohn is a NRA instructor and a constitutional activist. Republican Party Headquarters Shot Up in FloridaSouth Daytona, Florida –-(Ammoland.com)-At least 4 bullets were fired through the windows of the Volusia County Republican headquarters late Sunday night or early Monday morning.At the time of the shooting, no one was in the building. Workers arrived Monday morning to find the windows shot out of the South Daytona building. The shooting happened on the same day that gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis was scheduled to visit the location.“I’m angry. I’m mad — I mean Ron DeSantis is coming here today. I don’t know if they are trying to send a message to Ron, but I’ve notified the campaign that we’ve had this incident here,” Tony Ledbetter, Volusia County Republican Chair told WFTV, the local ABC affiliate.South Daytona Police are investigating the incident that left shattered glass on the sidewalk of the Nova Fountain strip mall according to Police Captain Mark Cheatham. Police will step up patrols around the area to prevent a repeat of the shooting incident.There is a tightly contested race for the Governors seat in Florida between Republican Ron DeSantis and Democrat Andrew Gillum. The incumbent Republican Governor Rick Scott is in his second term and cannot run again due to term limitations in Florida. Ron DeSantis is running to Be Florida’s next Governor IMG By Fox NewsPolitical violence is on the rise across the country. In 2017 James Hodgkinson, who was a radical leftist, shot up a Congressional softball practice. The shooting ended in the wounding Republican Congressman Steve Scalise. Earlier this year the Republican Party office in Laramie, Wyoming was set on fire.Republican workers believe that this attack was politically motivated. The shooter did not shoot up any neighboring businesses. Both Democrats and Republicans have condemned the attack.“Glad everyone at the Volusia County Republican headquarters is okay and that no one was inside when the shooting happened. Violence of any kind does not belong in our state and I appreciate law enforcement’s quick response to keep these Floridians safe,” Governor Rick Scott said in a Tweet.Democratic State Representative Patrick Henry emailed out a statement that read:“After one of the deadliest and most violent weeks in America, I’m disheartened and angry to learn that shots were fired at a Republican Party office in my district.”The Florida Democratic Party did not share Henry’s sentiment. They seemed to deflect any idea that it was a Democrat that lashed out at the Republican’s headquarters.“Our reaction is it’s appalling,” Jewel Dickson, the Volusia Democratic Party chair said of the shooting. “It’s a sign of things going wrong. I would not be quick to blame a Democrat for doing that. It could be anybody angry.”Police are checking security camera from surrounding business to see if they can find any identifiable information about the shooter or shooters. Police are also asking for any witnesses to come forward with any knowledge of who did the shooting.Police could charge the perpetrators of the shooting of a hate crime.
